Religion

What makes people believe in religion? Why?
How easy is it to convert to a religion, either from a previous non-religious or religious stance?
What needs does religion fulfill?
What kind of biases are involved in religion?

I think believing in religion is some way for humans to try and makes sense of the world, and how it works. Religion fulfills the need for some sort of truth, and in a lot of cases the need to know what happens after you die, and if life is actually worth it.
On converting...it depends. If you're raised strongly to one religion and that's what you truly believed, I'd think it would be rather difficult to convert, whereas if you were raised possibly following a religion but not....hardcore practicing in it, then it would be easier to convert. Maybe.

Biases....religion is entirely based on bias, it's based on the way people perceive the world. And choosing to follow a religion or not is based on a person's own beliefs, thus it's...entirely bias...

Religion offers answers to people. Answering questions that and justifying existance that cannot otherwise be proven. There are things and questions that humans will never be able to answer, religion provides answers to those questions. Not only that but most religions encourage people to act kindly or act in good or right ways, so in this way it's benneficial. To join a religious gorup also provides security and a sense of belonging. A way of connecting poeple to other poeple.

The answers religion provides are usually as logical as they can be so that people will believe, have faith in them. (such as creation beliefs).
