how many genders are there?

think outside the traditional two, which don't include transgendered (spell check is telling me to write it trans gendered) or transvestites.

For my definition, apart from transgendered/transvestites, gender consists of two basic parties. Those that are male, and those that are female mostly because of anatomical traits. Sexuality encapsulates every other possibility concerning preference and areas that are not so black and white. In some parts of Mexico, many people consider third group to be a gender known as Muxes (or some close equivalent, the spelling escapes me). Anatomically speaking, Muxes are men. What sets them apart is their desire to serve as daughters to their mothers because women are more highly valued in that particular region for economic reasons. It is much more lucrative to be a seamstress, than say, a bricklayer. If you define gender under similar terms to this, than there is an infinite number of genders! So I guess it depends.
