science and perception

Ok so based on our groups presentation on science today in Malone's, I'd like to ask a question to you all based on a story in spanish I read. What would happen if some imperceptible malfunction occured in one of the basic "law's of nature." Just through some infinent possibility this could happen, and it denied all of our knowledge, and or belief's about that subject. For example, if a man lost so much weight he started to float. How would we percieve this? How would soceity react, and how would you? How would we take this form of chaos in our normal everyday lives, and justify it to be real or not? Take this anywhere you want to, just some thoughts I had off this crazy story.

Wow! I'm not the first person! YAY! Now...something relevant.

If our laws of nature were suddenly overthrown, it would cause a massive upheaval in the field of science. People would suddenly think, "Well if the law of gravity isn't true, is the theory of reletivity?". Likewise, this would be reflected in our art. Dada would suddenly gain another movement, because people would suddenly realise that these truths that we held to be self-evident were suddenly non-existant. Philosophers would go Kah-RAzy. They would be asking all sorts of questions, etc.

Thus, with the uprootal of naturally held laws, yes I think chaos would arrise. However out of this chaso we would have some incredible theology and be alot more well rounded and cultured.

wouldnt people percieve it the same way - with sense perception first perhaps. i think the challenging would then come from the true meaning of perception - how do you take what you see and apply it - people are going to either reject it or accept it based on what they see and the opinions that are formed from that based on past experience or previous understandings.
